Obituary
Rebecca Fay Stewart, age 71, of Cedar Key, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2026.
Becky was born April 1, 1954, in Muscatine, Iowa, daughter of the late William and Alberta (Frieden) Schrock. She grew up in Eliza, Illinois, and was a graduate of Westmer High School. Immediately after high school she continued her education at Sawyer Business College in Bettendorf, Iowa. While in high school, she met her high school sweetheart, Steven Eugene Stewart. They were married on February 1, 1974.
Steve and Becky lived in Keithsburg, Illinois, for 4 years and welcomed their daughter, Wendy Dawn, on January 24, 1976. They moved to Cedar Key, Florida, in January of 1978 to raise their family and begin what would become a successful seafood business. On March 31, 1979, they welcomed their son, Steven Shane. Becky was a devoted wife, mother, and Memaw. She worked proudly alongside her husband, helping build their business, and dedicated her life to nurturing her family. "She was the glue that kept us together," as her family described her.
Becky's greatest joys were spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play sports. She was, without a doubt, their biggest fan. She jumped at the chance to go sit at the baseball or softball field, head to the gym for a basketball game, or go to the show barn for a pig show, and just recently she enjoyed babysitting her new great-granddaughter.
In her spare time, you could find her shopping with Papa Steve, tending to a garden, crocheting blankets of all shapes and sizes, out mowing one of her yards, or reading a good book.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Steven Stewart; their daughter, Wendy (David) Fisher of Cedar Key, Florida, and their children Morgan, Tori (and her daughter Avery), and Kenzie; and their son, Shane (Jennifer) Stewart, and their children Joey, Natalie, Kyle, and Dylan, who preceded Becky in death. She is also survived by her brothers and their families: Rick (Marcia, who preceded Becky in death) Schrock, of Manistee, Michigan, and Roger (Jane) Schrock, of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, and their children Alexis (Brandon) Fritz and their daughters Dagny and Evangeline, Morgan (Andy) Twehues and their daughters Emery and Penny, Jordan Schrock and her son JoJo, and Nolan Schrock.
She is also remembered by Steve's family as well. His father, Gene (Marna, who preceded Becky in death) Stewart, of Keithsburg, Illinois, his sister, Julie (Brad) Weeks of Keithsburg, Illinois, and their children, Chad (Kayla) Weeks and Chad's daughter, Savannah (Cody) Fanning, and their son, Hank; and Amanda Weeks, and his sister Gail (Darwin) Weeks of Burlington, Illinois, and their daughter, Richelle. There are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members who, even though scattered over many states, also remember Becky fondly.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Weems & Sons Funeral Home, 715 West Park Ave, Chiefland, FL 32626. A graveside service will be held at Shiloh Cemetery, 12690 SW Shiloh Road, Cedar Key (Rosewood), Florida at 11:00am on Friday, February 20, 2026 with Brother Jamie McCain and Brother Kevin Beckham officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather for food and fellowship immediately after the service at the Rosewood Baptist Church, 6331 SW 98th Terrace, Cedar Key, FL 32626.
Arrangements are under the care of Weems & Sons Funeral Homes.
