Obituary
Richard Jones, 78, of Cross City, Florida, passed away on October 27, 2025. He was born on March 6, 1947, in Missouri and proudly served in the United States Navy.
Richard worked as a heavy equipment operator for Canadian Pacific Railroad and was known for his humor and love of motorcycles. He brought laughter to those around him and enjoyed life's adventures on the open road.
He is survived by his sons, Richard Jones Jr., Shannon DeYoung, and Kerry DeYoung, as well as his grandson, Benjamin Jones.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Cemetery in Branford, Florida.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Weems & Sons Funeral Homes, 715 W. Park Avenue, Chiefland, Florida 32626.

I remember once when I was young he and my grandmother Betty joined us in vacation in key West. We all went out on the pontoon and Richard happened to reel in the biggest catch of the day, a pretty large shark. Couldn't even get the thing in the boat. Had to drive the boat all over just to land the thing. I'm sorry this has happened. My condolences and prayers go out to everybody. May he rest in peace.
