Jane Benton

Jane Fant Benton,90 of Morriston , Florida passed away on April 23, 2021 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Morriston on October 10, 1930 to Arch and Lillian Fant. She lived in many locations in the State of Florida with her husband of 68 years, Cecil N. Benton who proceeded her in death. They returned to the family farm to live 42 years ago a part of which was homesteaded by Mrs Benton direct ancestors in July 1885. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Williston. Mrs. Benton was a homemaker and spent many years providing in home child care for several generations of children. She graduated from Williston High where she was class Salutatorian. She attended the University of Florida and was in the first class of women admitted to the University in 1947. Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Maxie Fant. She is survived by son, Larry(Janice) Benton, daughter, Donna (Gary) Bennett; five grandchildren, Edward (Jennifer) Benton, Garrett (Dana) Bennett, Kelly Morgan, Kathy (Brian) Rose, Cecil W (Misty); 15 great-grandchildren, Katie, RC (Bailey), Nicole, MacKenzie, Trentin, Nolan, Chandlor, Evan, Devyn, Lillian, Carter, Blair, Brynley, Eli and Cason , one great great grandchild, Chandon and two adopted grandchildren, Jennifer Houtman and Andrea (Ethan) Bell and her personal caregiver/companion Jennifer Torres who assisted her faithfully for several years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Williston First Baptist. Visitation at 10:00am and service at 11:00am with the Rev Jason Owenby officiating. Donations may be made in her honor to First Baptist Church of Williston or Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Morriston, FL.
