Michael Mauldin
December 03, 1954 - February 08, 2021
Obituary
Michael Elmore Mauldin, husband to Barbara Nuce Mauldin, went home to be with Jesus on February 8, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 66 years old. Born on December 3, 1954, in Williston, Florida, Mike was the third child and second son of Bolen Elmore and Agnes (Peterson) Mauldin. He and his brother and sister, Steve Mauldin and Mary (Mauldin) Russ, all graduated from Williston High School. Mike graduated in 1972 and went to work for a timber company shortly thereafter. Mike remained an employee there until his retirement in 2018. That steadiness and dependability was a hallmark of his life. Mike and Barbara were married in 1980 at First Baptist Church of Williston, where Mike was a member throughout his lifetime. Mike and Barbaras forty-first wedding anniversary will be later this month, on February 23rd. During their long and happy marriage, Mike and Barbara were blessed with a son, Mark (wife, Amanda), two grandchildren (Aubrey and Blake), a daughter, Laura (husband, Craig Coleman), and one step-grandchild (Logan). Although Mikes most avid interest was his family, he also loved road trips with his wife, vacations to the mountains, eating out at interesting restaurants, bass fishing, University of Florida sports (especially Gator baseball), and spending time outsidepreferably in front of a fire hed built himself. Mike was both a private man and a warm man. He was uninterested in worldly acclaim or approval, but he treasured his relationships with his friends and family, and he was gracious and welcoming to all. Fiercely independent, Mike prided himself on being prepared to address any situation and was happy to use that preparedness to help his loved ones. Those who knew him will long-remember Mikes quiet strength, sincere faith, and unflinching kindness. Mike was quick to laugh; loved a good story; and valued and respected loyalty, integrity, and honest work. He tried to live his life as Paul instructed in 1 Thessalonians 4:9, 11-12: "But we dont need to write to you about the importance of loving each other, for God himself has taught you to love one another. [...]Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others." He was a man who loved deeply, and he is loved and mourned deeply in turn. A funeral service to honor Mr. Mauldin will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 2PM at the First Baptist Church of Williston. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Tony Clubb and Pastor Jason Owenby will officiate. Burial will follow directly after the service at the Orange Hill Cemetery in Williston. Knauff Funeral Home is honored to serve the Mauldin family during their time of transition.
