Dorothy Layton

Dorothy Faye Wilkerson Layton of Williston, Florida, passed away on January 14, 2021. Ms. Layton was a lifelong resident of Williston, Fl. She was born February 19, 1946. Ms. Layton is preceded in death by her only child, James R. Layton. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Kay Green, of Williston; a step-brother, Benny Reddick, also of Williston, and 4 nieces. Ms. Layton graduated in 1964 from Williston High School. She married, and was a housewife until 1972 when she then went to work for Williston High School in 1973 as a Librarian Clerk, and then worked as an Aide until 1976. Ms. Layton also worked for her Father-in-laws business, C&L Welding from 1977-1984, and then for Williston Welding from 1984-1987, before retiring from the University of Florida in 2013. Ms. Layton, in her younger years enjoyed golfing. She enjoyed being on the water, fishing, cooking, ceramics, reading, knitting, sewing and oil painting, and was very talented in all hobbies. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Knauff Funeral Home in Williston is in charge of arrangements.
