Barry Green Sr.

Barry L. Green Sr. of Newberry, FL, died at age 77 on October 31, 2020. Barry was born on October 1, 1943 in Gainesville, FL, to A.M. and Bonita Green. He graduated from Newberry High School in 1961 where he was the starting quarterback and was an active member of the Newberry FFA Chapter. After high school he attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, GA. On August 22, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart Charlene Asbell. Together, they raised 3 sons Lee, Perry, and Seth. Barry was self-employed in the logging and land-clearing business for the majority of his life. Before his logging business, Barry ran a custom farming operation and managed cattle for multiple ranchers in the area. He had a passion for long thought-provoking conversations and enjoyed telling jokes and having a good laugh. He was preceded in death by his father, A.M.; his mother, Bonita; and his sister, Glenda Kelley. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlene; brothers Gabe Green and Don Green; sisters Phyllis Norfleet and Cindy Bass; sons Lee and his wife Karrisa; Perry and his wife Jennifer; Seth and his wife Katie; and his grandchildren, Noelle, Loralai, Annabeth, Tifton, Whitley, Hudson, and Ellie.
