William Screws

William Jack Screws Jr., 64, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 30, 2020. Jack was born September 13, 1955, in Gainesville, Florida, the first of three sons to Jack Sr. and Helen Screws. He was preceded in death by his father. Jack loved his family, community, and church. He was dedicated to his lifelong hometown, Williston, and served as City Councilman and volunteer for the Williston Police Department. He was a deacon throughout his adult life at First Baptist Church of Williston. He also served as Sunday School teacher, church clerk, Vacation Bible School teacher, choir member, and occasional interim music minister. Jack was an avid hunter that loved to spend time in the woods with his family. Jack is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 43 years, Sherry, two daughters, Melissa Lewis and husband, Matt, of Williston, and Brooke Infante and husband, Mike, of Lordstown, Ohio; two brothers, Alan and wife Bonnie, of Ocala, Dan and wife Diane, of Williston; he was "Poppy" to four grandchildren, Jason Averill, Jr. of Austintown, OH, Paishence Averill of Austintown, OH, Avery Lewis of Williston, and Mikey Infante of Lordstown, OH; and many more relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held September 2 (Jack & Sherrys 43rd wedding anniversary) at 6:00 pm at Orange Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 6-8 Tuesday evening, September 1st at First Baptist Church. Arrangements are being handled by Knauff Funeral Home, 512 East Noble Avenue, Williston.
