Charles Gilbert

Charles William (C. W.) Gilbert of Bronson, FL passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at his home. He was 82. His family and friends celebrate knowing that C.W. was received in heaven by a grand homecoming of loved ones. C.W. was a Bronson High School graduate of 1955, he also graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelors of Science from the School of Business in 1972. C.W. was a member of the Bronson United Methodist Church his entire life, he mentored youth, serving as a Guardian Ad Litem, volunteered as a Reading Buddy at Bronson Elementary School, advocated for the Levy County Citizens. He was also a member of the Gideons for many years, speaking at churches and distributing Bibles. He served in the Army Reserves and worked for the FBI and FBLE as a fingerprint expert. He was also a general contractor, a small engine repair shop owner, a farmer and cattleman. He was a huge Bronson Eagles fan, never missing any of his kids games and was a major supporter of Bronson athletics. He was very active in local politics. First and foremost, C.W. was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family of which he was so proud. C.W. is predeceased by his first wife, Betty Houseman Gilbert; parents, Carroll Willis and Francis Revelle Gilbert; son, Randy Gilbert; and siblings Warren and Tim Gilbert. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; three sons, Chuck (Maria Elena) Gilbert, Alan (Jeannie) Gilbert and Beau (Julia) Gilbert; three daughters, Mary (Wayne) Graddick, Tracy Wagner and Mandy (Will) Robinson; fourteen grandchildren, Charlie (Jayla) Gilbert, Christy Gilbert, Chana (Chris) Paxton, Chase (Jerrica) Gilbert, Charity (Tristen) Spann, Randy Gilbert, Jr., Destini (Wesley) Vorhees, Tiffany (Jake) Sache, Sable (Austin) Davis, C.J. Gilbert, Becky (Joseph) Henderson, Devin Griffis, Cody Griffis, Robby Wagner, sixteen great-grandchildren and siblings, Mary Ruth Butler, Bessie Harmon, and Louia Gilbert. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Knauff Funeral Home Chapel in Chiefland, FL. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Bronson, FL with Rev. Frank Mason officiating.
