Obituary
Martin Wyatt Reid, longtime resident of Levy County, was born on May 9, 1946, and passed away on December 5, 2025.
Martin was a devoted father and grandfather whose greatest joy was his family. He was employed with White Ford and Scoggins Chevrolet, and he proudly served the community as a dedicated sheriff's deputy in Harris County, Texas, for 28 years.
In his spare time, Martin enjoyed spending days in the woods hunting and was an active member of the FFA, where he served with honor as Chaplain.
He is predeceased by his loving wife, Madge Merriwether. Martin is survived by his daughter, Sheila Reid; his brothers, Jerry Reid and Robert (Trenda) Reid; his sister, Ruth (Dennis) Clubb; his grandchildren, Kayla Castro and Alberto Castro Jr.; and his three great-grandchildren, Josiah Jesus Short, Lucas James Short, and Asher John Castro.
A visitation will be held in the chapel of Weems & Sons Funeral Homes, 715 West Park Avenue, Chiefland, FL 32626, on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with a service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Chiefland Cemetery.
The family has entrusted Weems & Sons Funeral Homes with the arrangements.
