Samuel Neil

Samuel Jerry "Bud" Neil, 81, a life-long resident of Levy County, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019. Bud was born to Francis Vernon Neil and Harriett Winona Cooksey Neil, February 4, 1938, in Fellowship,FL. He served four years in the United States Air Force. He married Barbara Cason in 1961 and they lived in Levy County. Together they raised three children. Bud enjoyed hunting, camping and working in his yard. He was employed by Usher Land and Timber for over 30 years. Bud is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and sister Allice June Neil; father-in-law Call Cason; mother-in law Beatrice Cannon Cason; brother-in-law Ronald Cason, and son-in-law William Roger McElroy. Bud is survived by his three children, Sherry McElroy, Calla Neil , and Joe Neil; daughter-in-law Donica Neil; granddaughters Kelsey and Alexis Barber; sister Elizabeth Cason; nieces Rhonda Cook and Susan Hallman, and nephew Kevin Cason. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cheryl Richburg for her exceptional care of Bud over the past three and a half years. A celebration of Bud's life will be held Wednesday May 1, 2019 at Knauff Funeral Home Chapel in Chiefland, FL. Visitation will be from 6pm to 7pm with a memorial service immediately following from 7pm. The family invites anyone who has a fond memory or funny story of Bud to share those memories during the memorial service.
