Obituary
Kenneth Jay “Kenny” Velez, 64, of Williston, Florida, passed away on November 29, 2025, at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Kenny was many things: a devoted husband, a proud dad, a true Florida Gators fan in all kinds of weather (even the really bad weather), a NASCAR fanatic, and a true jack-of-all-trades. If something was broken, he could diagnose it immediately and tell you exactly how to fix it. If it wasn't broken… well, he could be sure to break it for you (haha!).
Known for his sharp wit, sarcasm, and a sense of humor that bordered on “did he really just say that?” (yes, he did), Kenny was a jokester and - lovingly - an asshole in the most endearing way. He was smart, quick-witted, and had a way of keeping things light, even when life wasn't. But beneath the sarcasm was a man who loved his family fiercely.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Stephnie Velez, and his daughters, Tina Velez and Shelby Velez, who were the pride of his life. He also leaves behind the dogs he adored, his many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family of cousins and loved ones who meant more to him than he probably ever admitted out loud.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel “Mike” and Mary “Gayle” Velez; his brother, Michael; his beloved dog, Bailey; and his cherished grand-pup, Bentley, who passed just two months before him—undoubtedly greeting him first.
In lieu of traditional services, a Celebration of Life will be held on January 31, 2026, at the Williston Woman's Club, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend. Guests are encouraged to bring photos, stories, and memories of Kenny to share—especially the funny ones. He would expect nothing less.
Kenny will be remembered for his humor, his loyalty, his love of family, and the unmistakable presence he brought into every room. He will be deeply missed and always remembered—probably with a laugh, an eye roll, and a story that starts with, “You won't believe what Kenny said…”
