Bettye Harris

Bettye Battle Harris, 84, of Williston went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 31, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Donald Ray Harris, Sr. She is survived by three children, Donald Ray, Jr. and his wife, Jeanne, of Sebring, Glenn and his wife, Connie, of Williston, Lana and her husband, Mike, of Wewahitchka; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Reggie Battle and wife, Cindy, of Williston; one sister, Janice Lewis and husband, Mack, of Ocala; and many, many nieces and nephews. Bettye enjoyed cooking, working in her yard, doing for others and was actively involved with her church. She was the first to offer help when she found someone in need. She was a longtime employee of Farm Bureau before she began working for the late Dr. Donald L. McCoy in Williston. For years, she was the smiling face that greeted patients at Gainesville Internal Medical Physicians where she later retired. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Williston with Brother Joe Smith and Reverend Danny Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Orange Hill Cemetery. Her family will receive visitors on Tuesday evening, April 3, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Knauff Funeral Home located at 512 East Noble Avenue in Williston. In lieu of flowers, and because of Bettye's love of children, the family has requested that donations be made in her memory to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home, 51 Children's Way, Enterprise, FL 32725.
