Obituary

Virginia Ann Mims Celoria passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville. She was 105 years, 7 months & 1 day old when her spirit left this earth.

Virginia was born on March 10, 1920 at the Mims family farm in Levy County, not far from Williston. She was the 8th child of 11 children born to Charles Southwell "Charlie" Mims, Jr. and Myrtle Adele Williams Mims. After graduation from Reddick High School, she worked in Jacksonville until she met and married her husband, Louis John “Chuck” Celoria, on September 23, 1944. She was a devoted wife and mother of four children, but most importantly, she was a strong Christian who loved the Lord. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Williston after moving back there in 1983. She had a lovely alto voice and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. She lived for the last 8 years in the Williston Care Center following surgery for a broken hip in March of 2017.

She was a “prayer warrior” and prayed daily for all her family, friends and others in need. She read her Bible every day, even when her vision was failing in her later years. She was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

She was predeceased by her parents, 10 siblings, her husband, her daughter Patricia Ann (Celoria) Robinson, her daughter-in-law Connie Sumner Celoria, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Survivors include son Rev. Don A. Celoria of Griffin, Georgia, son Rev Alan B. Celoria (wife Jan) of Chesterfield, Virginia, and daughter Linda Celoria Sabis (husband Bill) of Gainesville. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way) as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. She was loved much by so many and will be greatly missed by all of us.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Weems & Sons Funeral Home Williston. A Celebration of Life for her will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Williston, with an additional visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. An additional Interment will follow at Orange Hill Cemetery in Williston.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be made to First Baptist Church, 339 E Noble Avenue, Williston, FL 32696 with a note to designate it to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in memory of Virginia Ann Mims Celoria. She had a heart for missions and never failed to give an offering to this cause every year.

Arrangements are entrusted to Weems & Sons Funeral Homes, 512 East Noble Avenue Williston, Florida 32696.

We send lots of love to all of you. She was full of life and I still hear her voice in the nightly calls she always made to Alan & family. I never detected self-pity, only love, being happy about life and interest in others. We feel like we met her and shared her life. Love to you all!
