Alice Lord

Alice Camelia Ellen Morris Lord was born June 16, 1924 and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday morning, January 23, 2018 at the E. T. York Center (Hospice) in Gainesville. Alice was 93 years old and died of heart failure and pneumonia. Alice was born and raised in Madison, FL as the youngest sister with five brothers. She graduated from Madison High School. She and her husband, Albert James Lord, married and raised their family in Jacksonville, Florida. Alice graduated as an RN from St. Vincents in Jacksonville. She worked with Dr Roy Schnauss for over 15 years before working at Duval Medical Center. She retired from the State Hospital in Macclenny in 1979 after having served as an RN for 33 years. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and were members of the West Jacksonville Shrine Club and active with the Road Runners Motor Cycle unit. Alice loved to read and crochet. She especially loved spending time with family and grandchildren. She was an active member of Woodstock Methodist Church in Jacksonville before she and her husband moved to Old Town, Florida in retirement. She joined New Prospect Baptist Church in Cross City where she was active until health issues prohibited. She lived the last years of her life with her son and his wife in Old Town. Alice is survived by her son, William Chesley Lord, Sr. (Charlotte) of Old Town, Florida and her daughter, Camelia Nordstrom (Gary) of Whitehouse in Jacksonville, Florida. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mrs. Georgia Lord and Mrs. Ruth Tyre (Ralph), of Old Town and Mrs. Iris Morris of Tampa. Alice was blessed with Grandsons she dearly loved: William Chesley Lord, Jr. "Cody" (Chasity); Daryl James Lord, (Alyssa); Gregory James Nordstrom (Shannon) and Timothy Warren Nordstrom, (Colleen) of Friendsville, Tennessee; Wayne Nordstrom, (Michelle) of Yulee, Florida, and David Glenn Nordstrom (Angie) of Jacksonville. Alice has 17 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Albert James Lord and a grandson, Justin Caylon Lord. She will be buried in Summerville Cemetery at New Prospect Baptist Church in Cross City, Florida. A service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 12:00 PM at the New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Jones officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior from 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM.
