Eric Godkin

Eric Lee Godkin, 59, of Bronson, FL , died in his home surrounded by family on September 8, 2025. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at 4 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Bronson with John Coker officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the Church beginning at 3 p.m.

Eric was born in Celina, OH on June 8, 1966 to the late Jan and Nellie Godkin, and was raised with his younger sister, Karen and younger brother Mike. Eric attended Western High School in Davie, FL before moving to Williston, FL, where he worked at Hilltop Restaurant as a line cook. It was there that Eric was blessed to meet and work with the love of his life and future wife, Tonya Jeannette Benka. As the story goes, Eric would cook Tonya pancakes at the beginning of her waitressing shifts, just to have a reason to talk to her. Eric and Tonya were married April 7, 1990 at the Baptist Church in Williston, FL and raised their two sons Jason and Justin in Williston, FL. He was a loving father and dedicated husband; a kind man to friends and strangers alike. He had a passion for archery, camping, fishing and other outdoor sports that he passed on to his sons. He was the proudest grandfather, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bronson, FL.

Eric is survived by his wife, Tonya Jeannette Godkin, a son, Jason Michael Godkin and his wife, Brianna Carolyn of Williston; and two grandchildren, Ashlynne Marie and Adam Michael Godkin; a son, Justin David Godkin and his wife, Maelyn of Fairfax, VA; a sister, Karen Cox of Williston; a niece, Katie Oslager and her husband, James of Williston; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Remmie and Paxton Oslager of Williston.
