Linda Martin

Well it is my time now. I was married very young to Emmett Martin and we had two good kids. We lived a very long life; we made the complete circle of life and enjoyed every day of it.

I worked as a housewife and at a Daycare Center in Gainesville for a long time. Then I babysat at home so other families could go to work. Some people would say that this is not a job, but I want you to know that it is a very big job. Taking care of husband and kids and a home is a full-time job.

But, I would not change a thing; I enjoyed it all. There were good times and bad times, but that is life. So enjoy every day of your life. I hope for the best to all of you.

I leave behind my daughter, Christine L. Mathis (Jimmy) and son, Vernie E.; aka Pete Martin (Holly). They have given me 5 grandkids, 3 step-grands and 14 great-grandkids. I also leave behind 4 sisters who I love. Emily Ellzey (Buddy), Geraldine Williams, Betty Kidd (Roger), and Earnestine Harris. I will miss my friends and my homestead, quilting, gardening, fishing and the beauty of mother nature.

Linda L. Martin, born August 24th, 1947 passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Linda married Emmett Martin, the love of her life. They had two children, Christine L. Mathis, married to Jimmy and Vernie E., or Pete Martin, married to Holly. Between them they gave her 5 grandchildren, 3step-grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Linda is survived by her 4 beloved sisters: Emily Ellzey (Buddy), Geraldine Williams, Betty Kidd (Roger), and Earnestine Harris. She also leaves behind 4 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law, many nieces and nephews and too many friends to mention.

Linda lived a full life, worked as a Daycare provider in Gainesville and at her home in Micanopy. She enjoyed being a wife and mother and her home was always warm and welcoming. Linda excelled at quilting, crocheting, cooking, and canning. She and Emmett enjoyed hunting and were members of the McGee Hunt Club. They also loved to fish and taught their kids and grandkids to ‘wet a line', fishing is a Martin right of passage, they all loved it.

Linda often said she would not change a thing about her life, she and Emmett loved each other and enjoyed the life they built together; good times and bad.
