Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David Stephens, who died peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the age of 74, in Chiefland, FL.
David was born on April 30, 1951 in Ocala, FL to Howard and Martha JoAnne Stephens. David is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Judy LaWanna Stephens; his son, Richard Stephens; daughter-in-law, Dea Stephens; his two grandchildren, Clara and Collin Stephens; and his two brothers, Ronald Stephens and Phillip Stephens.
David was raised and lived most of his life in Crystal River, FL. In the summer of 1970, he met Judy and they were married a few years later on June 9th, 1973. In 2000, he and Judy moved to Gulf Hammock, FL to live peacefully on the banks of the Waccasassa River.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator all his life until he retired in 2021. He owned his own business, Dave's Grade Service, and was known for his expertise on a tractor and box blade.
David loved woodworking, history, and the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trips to the Great Smoky Mountains. Always cheerful and in good spirits, he loved to sit around the campfire with friends and family sharing memories and trading stories. He worked hard and wanted to share everything he had with everyone he loved - be it BBQ, something he made in the wood shop, or just good times. He wanted to share his good fortune with everyone.
A celebration of life will be held at 1077 Hwy 40 East; Inglis, FL 34449 on Saturday, August 30th at 3:00 PM.
