Obituary

James Fox our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather quietly slipped away from our earth world to be in Heaven in the arms of Jesus.

James was born at home in Carlisle, Ohio to Edward and Doris Fox on March 23, 1937 and passed away at his home in Williston, Florida on August 5, 2025.

James was an avid sportsman with a deep love for the outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, water skiing, target shooting, or playing golf, he found joy in nature and all its gifts. His compassion extended to animals of all kinds, from dogs, cats and horses to a rescued crow he once nursed back to health, reflecting his gentle heart and respect for all living things.

His favorite hobby was woodworking, a craft through which he shared his faith and generosity. From making church signs, benches, and Sunday School art to crafting furniture for friends, family, and businesses, James used his God-given talents to bless his community and express his love for the Lord.

James is survived by his wife Mae of 70 years; three sons David J. Fox (Debbie), Jeffrey L. Fox (Cel), Brian J. Fox (Sherri), and one daughter Angela Fox Ordonez. Twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one sister Carolyn Fowler and Becky Slusher, mother of two grandchildren.

James was a great man who loved God, his family and friends with a deep passion. He left this world a better place than when he entered it.

A memorial service will be held at the First Methodist Church of Williston on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11:00 am. Pastor David Richter will officiate.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to The National Rifle Association of America, an organization that James was passionate about.

Arrangements are entrusted to Weems & Sons Funeral Homes, 512 East Noble Avenue Williston, Florida 32696.

I have so many memories of Uncle Jim, most of them are funny. He was so kind, sweet, and made his home feel like my home when I spent summers there. He was also an amazing Great Uncle to Jesse, who thought the world of him. We love you Uncle Jim and we will miss you so much.
