Irene Scarso

Irene Rose Murphy Scarso, age 69, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Haven Hospice, Gainesville, FL. Irene was born on February 7, 1946, in Flushing, New York, to the late James and Rita Murphy. She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Jim and John Murphy. Irene is survived by her husband of 43 years, Peter P. Scarso; her son, Mauro DeCillis (Hayden) of New York, and three beautiful grandchildren. After moving to Williston area and later Gainesville, Irene worked at the University of Florida almost 27 years, 23 in the office then known as the Department of Civil and Coastal Engineering. Working as a Word Processing Operator, Irene was a much valued employee before retiring in 2009. Irene loved knitting, crocheting, solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles, as well as learning Tai Chi from Dr. Mang Tia. A Memorial Mass will be held for Mrs. Scarso 11:00 AM Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Williston, Florida.
