Jack Arrington

Mr. Jack A. Arrington, 71, was called home to Glory on Wednesday, July 8th, 2015, one week after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Jack passed peacefully, at Haven Hospice in Chiefland with his wife, Kathy, and son, Tim, at his side. Jack was born in Ashland, Kentucky on October 27, 1943 to Arnold and Geneva Arrington, who have preceded him in death. Jack moved to St. Petersburg, Florida when he was 11 and he and his wife moved full -time to their retreat home on the Suwannee River in 2010 after spending 10 beautiful years enjoying weekends there with family and friends. Jack married his Junior High school sweetheart, Kathy Denning, in 1964. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in April. Last year, on their Golden Anniversary, they renewed their wedding vows in a joyous celebration of love and life. Together they were blessed to raise two sons, Timothy Arrington, who resides in Canton, Ga. and Kenneth Arrington, who preceded his father to heaven at the age of 20. Jack is survived by his wife Kathy, son Timothy, daughter-in-law Christy and grandchildren Casey, Corey and Cydney Arrington, who completely captured his heart. He is also survived by his sisters, Bonnie Hunt and Darlene Howland and many well-loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was a very successful entrepreneur in St. Petersburg, Florida. He and his wife started and ran over 14 businesses specializing in service and real estate enterprises. He founded Arrington Grounds Maintenance, a company that is still operating, over 40 years ago. At the time of his passing, Jack was just completing his first book, Without A Dime. The book is a humorous true life account of his life, his love and his business principles. He was dedicated to helping other businessman become successful in every area of their life. As a personal business mentor and coach he took great joy in helping others become the best that could be. On his last night at home, his wife promised that she would get that book across the finish line for him. With God being her helper, his legacy will live on to help others. Jack and his wife accepted the Lord together, in each others arms in 1974. Jack has joyously lived out his faith daily since then. He served on the Boards of Florida Beacon College, St. Petersburg Christian School and Suncoast Cathedra. He was also a committed supporter of New Life Solutions. Jack Arringtons life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service 11:00 AM Saturday, July 18th, at the Greenhouse Church, 2925 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32605. The family will greet guests one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mike Patz will officiate. Friends and family that wish to participate in helping to achieve Jacks goal of publishing his book are invited to make a contribution to the Publishing Fund in lieu of flowers.
