Hugh Lawrence

Mr. Hugh A. Lawrence, 77, of Williston passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Mr. Lawrence was born in Whigham, GA, but had lived in the Williston area for over 60 years after moving here from Georgia. Mr. Lawrence worked for several years as a Correctional Officer, was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Ornan Lodge No.117 Free & Accepted Masons, and the Magee Branch Hunting Club. In his spare time Mr. Lawrence enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid Gator fan. Mr. Lawrence was preceded in death by his sister Kathy Whitcomb. Mr. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 57 years Barbara Lawrence, a son Huey Lawrence (Cathy), his daughters Gwen Arms (Gary), Shirley Schultz (Rick), and Wendy Robertson (Mark Dorman) all of Williston, a brother Michael Pursley (Denise) of Bronson, FL, his sisters Patricia Pursley of Starke, FL, Vicky Pursley, and Leah Pate (Ken) both of Gainesville, FL, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Lawrence 11:00 AM Saturday, April 18, 2015 in the Knauff Funeral Home Williston Chapel, with Pastor Wes Smith officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel 30 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Haven Hospice.
