Obituary

Matthew Dale McCall, 21, of Cedar Key, Florida, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025. Matthew was born on March 15, 2004 in Florence, South Carolina.


Whether he was casting a line into the gulf, tracking wild hogs in the swamps, digging up clams in the shallows with coworkers, pushing his limits in the weight room and watching dirt track racing, he approached life with a spirit that was big and fearless. Matthew was of the Methodist Faith. He enjoyed working alongside Virgil Sandlin at his lawncare business as a dedicated landscaper.


He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Billy and Katie Weaver.


Matt leaves behind his father, Craig Dewayne McCall; his mother, Billie Jo McCall; his brother, Coy McCall; his grandparents, William and Linda McCall; his loving girlfriend, Devin Haines; Aunt Ellen (Dale) Dilling whom he affectionately called Mama Ellen as a toddler and cats Pubert and CeCe. Each of them held a special place in his heart, as he did in theirs.


Arrangements are entrusted to Weems & Sons Funeral Homes, 715 West Park Avenue Chiefland, Florida 32626.

My love, my best friend, and most importantly my other half that completed me. Matthew was a gift, he had the biggest heart and would always spread his kindness. It was a blessing to have him in my life. He’s a person you will never forget, and my promise to Matthew is to always make him proud. I also promised you forever, and it will always stay that way. Let it rain baby, I know how much you wanted it rain.
