Gareth Selwood

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gareth Archer Selwood, who left us peacefully on July 14, 2025, at the age of 64. Gareth was born on July 14, 1961, in Luton, England, to his loving parents, Brian Selwood and Maureen Campbell.

Gareth's life was marked by an unwavering commitment to his passions and his family. After moving to Brussels, Belgium, as a child, he later relocated to California in 1976. A proud graduate of Redlands High School in 1978, Gareth's lifelong love of horses took center stage when he opened Selwood Park Stable, which became a beloved fixture in the equestrian community.

His deep connection to the equestrian world led him to operate Selwood Park Stable in Canterbury, Gainesville from 2009 to 2011, after spending years shaping his legacy in the sport. A life member of USEF (United States Equestrian Federation), USDF (United States Dressage Federation), APHA (American Paint Horse Association), NRHA (National Reining Horse Association), Pinto Horse Association, and the National Society of Equine Appraisers, Gareth's expertise and reputation were widely respected.

Gareth was an accomplished competitor, participating in National Championships and Nations Cup Events in Spain, Morocco, and the USA, where he represented his country with pride and skill. His exceptional talent in the saddle was matched only by his generosity in sharing his knowledge with others in the equestrian community.

Fluent in both French and English, Gareth's ability to bridge cultures and connect people from all walks of life was one of his greatest gifts. He was known for his quiet strength, sense of humor, and dedication to those he loved. His warm spirit and gentle demeanor left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
