Obituary
Frances Elizabeth Green, born on December 2, 1945, in the warmth of a loving family, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, surrounded by her children at Haven Hospice Center in Gainesville, Florida. Frances, affectionately known as Fran, will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In her younger years she is remembered as fun loving, high energy, full of new ideas and would do anything for you if she could. She was beautiful inside and out.
Fran was the beloved daughter of Alvin Stuart Dodson and Marie Belle Howard and she was predeceased by her husband, Glen Roy Green, who passed on July 4, 2019. One of their shared ventures was a pet shop they ran in Indiana, a testament to their mutual love for animals, a passion that Fran carried with her throughout her life. She especially loved horses, passing that love to her sister Janice. Later in her professional life, Fran was a Patient Care Technician at UF Health Shands Hospital. She is remembered for the care given to families during times of illness. She would do anything for you if she could.
Her legacy lives on through her children: Kelly M. (Christopher) Hayes of Piseco, NY, Michael D. Green of Williston, FL, and Paul W. Swallow, also of Williston, FL. Fran’s spirit extended to her grandchildren, Kristen Hayes, Tiffany Hayes, Valerie (Richard) Murphey, Caleb (Julie) Hayes, Ariel Green, and Michael Green. Great-grandson, Michael Christopher Murphey, was a source of immense joy, ensuring that Fran’s legacy continues.
Fran was also a cherished sister to Ronald (Marylou) Dodson of Ovid, NY, Charles (Beth) Dodson of Indianapolis, IN, and Janice (Brian) Crosby of Williston, FL. She is predeceased by her sister Carol (David) Jackson of Ovid, NY. She had many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, who she enjoyed spending time with as often as she could.
Fran’s love for animals was rivaled only by her love for her family. She delighted in family gatherings, where she was able to be part of the laughter and warmth of family and friends.
The family of Frances E. Green extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Haven Hospice Center, UF Shands Hospital, and Williston Rehab for their kindness and dedication during Fran’s final days. Your care and compassion provided comfort not only to Fran but also to her family, for which they are eternally grateful.
In honoring Fran’s life, her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and she will forever be remembered with love and gratitude. May her soul find peace, reunited with all the family and friends who went before her in the eternal embrace of love.
Arrangements are entrusted to Weems & Sons Funeral Homes of Williston.
