Obituary
Stanley Francis Brois
August 25, 1958 – June 19, 2026
Stanley Francis Brois, 67, of Cedar Key, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2026. Born in Newburgh, New York, Stanley built a life defined by hard work, deep roots, and the kind of genuine humor that drew people to him wherever he went.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Stanley earned his certifications in air conditioning and refrigeration and turned that expertise into something lasting — founding Stan's AC & Refrigeration. Through the 1980s and into the early 2000s, he built his business and raised his family in Saint Petersburg, Florida, becoming the man people called when things needed fixing. Highly skilled, deeply trusted, and widely respected, Stanley had a true MacGyver spirit — resourceful, inventive, and capable of building or fixing just about anything with whatever was on hand.
Long before he ever called it home full time, Stanley had a vision. In 1989, he purchased a piece of property in Cedar Key with a good friend — wooded, wild, and exactly what he had in mind. Over the years he bought out his partner and became the sole owner of the acreage. After his children were grown, Stanley made his move in 2007, roughing it on the land for years before his house was built and ready in 2010. That home, raised with the help of his trusted network of friends, became everything he envisioned.
He was a master relationship builder — a natural talker who knew everyone, remembered everything, and made people feel like they mattered. He loved the land, the water, and the wild things around him. He hunted, fished, and found his greatest peace in and around the Lower Suwannee.
Stanley is survived by his daughters Amanda, Kristen, and Lorraine; his sons Kristopher, Joey, and Jason; his sisters Donna, Joan, Betsy, and Lorraine; and his ten grandchildren, Savannah, Alexandra, Alyssah, Donovan Cash, Kingston, Kairo, Dawson, Jack, Ashlyn, and Eliza, and his great-granddaughter, Lila Jane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Brois and Gladys Zolchak, and his brothers Joey, Brian, Chuckie, and Walt.
He will be deeply missed by his family, his community, and everyone lucky enough to have known him. Cedar Key won't be the same without him.
A celebration of life will be held in October — date to be announced soon. Details will be shared by Weems & Sons Funeral Home, Chiefland, Florida.
