Ron Hall

Ronald Wayne “River” Hall, long time resident of Chiefland, Florida, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025. He was 74 years old. Ron was born on July 7, 1950 in Wharton, Texas to his parents James and Wanda Hall. He was raised in a military family which involved frequent moves, living in Texas on three occasions, Colorado, Chicago, twice in Germany, Kentucky and Tennessee. Every move was an adventure and he never met a stranger.

Ron loved to argue politics with anyone that he could. He enjoyed the simple things in life like sitting in the comfort of his own home and reading a good book. He graduated from Fort Campbell High School in Kentucky where he ran cross country and was a state ranked wrestler. He attended Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN prior to enlisting in the US Army. Ron served his country as a military policeman for 8 years completing a tour in Vietnam, of which he was most proud. He later went on to graduate from Florida State University.

Ron is preceded in death by both of his parents James Winfred Hall and Wanda Lee Ezell Hall and sister Sandi Lawrence. He is survived by two sons James Hall and Stephen Hall; two daughters Jennifer Osteen (Mitch) and Lindsey Williams (Chad) and sister Pam Rowlette. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren Haleigh Williams, Kameron Williams, Bradley Williams, Lailah Hall, Stephen Hall, Jr., Bentley Hall, Noah Hall, Briana Frost, and Gary Tyler Frost as well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the 55A Community Building in Cross City, Florida. Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 236.
