Michael James Sweeney
April 10, 1945 - February 23, 2005

Williston Florida

Michael was born in Boston, Massachusetts a son of the late William T. Sweeney Sr. and Julia F.
(Sukiel) Sweeney.
Michael grew up in Charlestown, Massachusetts and was surrounded by many family members that adored him.

He was a rambunctious lad with a lot of creativity enjoying outdoor activities. He spent casual days at the Navy Yard
climbing ropes to jump into the water or climbing up bridges for fun.

The family eventually moved to the country where he spent summers swimming, picking blueberries and going to school
dances.

Michael enlisted into the United States Merchant Marines in his late teenage years serving his country throughout his life
time.
He was stationed in the Vietnam conflict. When he returned home he married, and had two sons Michael and Mark.

Michael returned to sea where some of his voyages included the Persian Gulf, Africa, Spain, and Asia where he often took
hold of the Captain's wheel. He also worked on oil rigs and studied to become a Captain.

Michael's strength and nobility were shown when he dove into the deep sea to rescue a shipmate.
He had a sense of solitude, bravery and wisdom along with faith in GOD.

His leisure time was spent playing golf and bowling or spending quality time with his family.

Michael "Mikey" " McGillicuddy" was survived by his parents and his two sons Michael Sweeney and Mark W. Sweeney
along with his three loving grandchildren Corrine Sweeney, Haley Sweeney and Ashlynn Sweeney.

Michael is survived by his siblings, William T. Sweeney Jr. (Billy) and his wife June; John J. Sweeney ( Jack) and his wife
Lisa; Robert R. Sweeney; Carolann and her husband George Cassello and Julie Sweeney.
He also had many nieces and nephews.

A special thankyou to Billy and June for the unconditional care they provided to Michael at their home and during his final
years of life including hospice care. He was 59 years old.
Michael's ashes were buried at sea on May 7, 2006 in the waters of the Mediterranean.

Rest in peace on Eagles wings.
