In Loving Memory of Charles Lint Meeks

Charles Lint Meeks, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 30, 2026 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was 56 years old. Lint was born a 7th generation Floridian in Ocala, Florida on February 22, 1970 to Charles Herbert and Yvonne Groover Meeks of Bronson, Florida.

Lint grew up running and playing in the fields of his grandfather’s hay farm in Bronson and spent countless hours digging in the dirt on the old Meeks homestead in Ellzey. He attended Ellzey United Methodist Church during his childhood and he later attended Otter Creek Baptist Church.

Lint’s greatest passion was hunting and he spent many an hour hunting, fishing and riding the roads in Gulf Hanmock Hunting Club with his dad, uncles, cousins and many close friends that Lint considered family. He just loved spending time with his dad in the hunting woods and raising hunting dogs. He grew up a Levy County country boy and would have given anyone the shirt off his back if they needed it.

Lint attended elementary and middle school in Bronson and later attended Chiefland High School, where he graduated in 1993. Lint joined the United States Marine Corps in 1994. He served at various duty stations including Okinawa, Japan and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He was honorably discharged in June of 1998.

Lint is survived by his four children, Lane and Brighton Meeks of Morriston, Florida; Harley Meeks of Bronson, Florida; and Charlie Meeks of Old Town Florida. He is also survived by his sisters, Leann Meeks of Ft. Worth, Texas; Lori (Arthur) Conquest of Bronson, Florida; and Patty Jerrels of Bronson, Florida along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, many cousins with whom he was very close and lots of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Yvonne Meeks and Charles and Carolyn Meeks, his sister, Lisa Shuman, his brother, Jeff Jerrels, his paternal grandparents Lawrence Jackson and Nora Mae Geiger Meeks and his maternal grandparents Charles Burnie and Catherine Fleeman Groover.

Funeral services will be held at the Ellzey United Methodist Church in Ellzey, Florida on Saturday, September 19th at 11:00 AM. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.
