Carol Diane Hardee Petersen

Diane was born on Oct. 15, 1949, at Alachua General Hospital to Charles V. and Faunita D. Hardee. Diane was a Christian and a believer in Jesus Christ, often seeking scripture for her own solace and for the benefit of others. Very proud of her family heritage as a fifth-generation Levy Countian, Diane enjoyed life on the farm, a good bull sale and the Suwannee River.

Diane graduated valedictorian of Chiefland High School’s Class of 1967 and went on to St. Pete Junior College to pursue a career in dental hygiene. Upon graduating, she returned home and worked for several local dentists, including Dr. Kirkland, Dr. Vanausdale and Dr. Cox. She married Hank Petersen on Sept. 4, 1971, and they lived on the farm their entire marriage. They welcomed their daughter, Lindsey Megan, with love and excitement on Sept. 14, 1980.

Diane enjoyed working on the farm, spending time with family and friends, playing piano, gardening, traveling to new places, hunting and fishing on the Suwanee River. She and her younger brother, Chris, are lifetime members of the American Angus Association. In 1956, Diane was gifted an Angus heifer. In 1957, she gave half interest of her heifer to Chris. The Angus Association was an organization she was deeply proud of.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Hank; her brother Chris (Franny); nieces Randi Jo (Dak) and Torie (David); nephews Isaac (Deana) and Zachary; as well as many beloved cousins and dear friends.

Diane will be remembered as strong-willed and intelligent and for her infectious, fun- loving personality.

Diane went to her heavenly home on Sept. 14, 2026. She will be deeply missed. The family will hold a private graveside memorial.
