James E. Crocker

James E. Crocker passed away on September 18, 2026, in Williston, Florida. Through his journey of 83 years, he made an indelible mark as a loving husband and father, as well as a ready friend and energetic, endlessly curious, and unforgettable presence in the world.

He was born January 26, 1943, in Bath, New York, the son of Elmer Elias Crocker and Mildred (Homer) Crocker. He graduated from Haverling High School, then earned his mechanical engineering degree from the New York State School of Ceramics. He worked as an engineer for over 40 years. He often said that his time at G&T Conveyor Company in Tavares, Florida, was one of his favorite jobs because of the joy he took in the working environment and friendships formed there.

Jim was a lifelong learner who was always engaged with the world around him, whether that was expressed through gardening, homesteading, collecting family photos, or making friends in the community, among many other interests. His legacy of curiosity, friendliness, and hard work inspired all those around them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Crosthwait; children Joy (Todd), Jill, Jeanette, Jed (Katrina), Joanne (Mike), and Sarah (Joe); siblings Dale (Millie), Elaine (James), Clifford (Janine), and Ken (Susan); grandchildren Finn, Adam, Xanthe, Maia, Elena, Lila, and Dana.
