Dana Kaye Ward, 56, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at HCA Hospital in Florida on June 11, 2025, after a brief illness.
Dana was born on October 30, 1968, in Gainesville, Florida, the daughter of Betty Ward and the late Richard Ward. She grew up in Williston and graduated from Forest High School in 1986. In her younger years, Dana worked as a horse exercise rider, later continuing her lifelong passion for horses as a dedicated horse farm manager. She had a deep love for animals, especially horses, and spent her life surrounded by the work she loved. She spent much of her life alongside the late Charles A. Carey, with whom she shared her love, family, and many years of companionship.
Dana was a woman of Baptist faith and unwavering devotion to her family and pets.
Dana is survived by her mother Betty Ward, brother David Ward, and her three sons Brandon Ward, Charles M., and Nicholas Carey. She was preceded in death by her father Richard Ward, and loving partner Charles A. Carey.
A funeral service will be held at 4:30 pm on Friday, June 21, 2025 at Weems & Sons Funeral Home in Williston. The family invites friends to join them 30 minutes prior for a visitation. Brother Jerry Philman will officiate. Burial will follow at the Orange Hill Cemetery.
