Charles Sparks

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Thomas (Tom) Sparks, lovingly known by some as “Strikeout,” who passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 5. A devoted family man, loyal friend, and lover of the great outdoors, Tom lived life on his own terms — full of grit, laughter, and heart.

A retired truck driver with miles of stories and friendships made along the way, Tom was never one to sit still for long. When he wasn't on the road, you could find him casting a line into the Suwannee River, his favorite fishing hole, or out on the Gulf of America chasing fish, scallops, and sunsets. His passion for fishing and hunting was only rivaled by his deep love for family, community, and his four-legged companions.

Tom was a proud member of  the AMVETS Post 444 and current Chaplain of the Sons along with being an active member of the Moose lodge organization, where he enjoyed fellowship, storytelling, and supporting fellow veterans and community members. His sense of humor, warm handshake, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Above all, Tom was a family man. His love for his family was unmatched, and his legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the countless lives he touched. He was a steadfast presence who made everyone feel like family.

Tom was predeceased by his parents Waymon and Beulah Belle Sparks.

Tom leaves behind his beloved wife Kathy, his sons Tom Sparks and wife Jody of Perry, FL, Adam Sparks and John Sparks of Perry, FL, James and Elena Harvey of Chiefland, FL and daughter Tara and husband Mike Edwards of Palm City, FL, Sisters Gloria Medley of Greenville, FL, Nancy Reitz of Fort Pierce, FL, brother Robin Sparks of Greenville, FL, brother in law Ted and wife Donna Flecker of Chiefland, FL, his grandsons Cody and Brandon Sparks of Perry, FL, granddaughters Chelsey Fussell, Haylea Feagle, Jaylyn Harvey and Jessalyn Harvey of Chiefland, FL, great grandkids, nieces and nephews, who carry on his strength and laughter. He was a faithful servant of God and a kind soul who found joy in life's simple pleasures and in giving more than he ever asked for in return.

He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered every time the river runs, the tide rolls in, and a catfish bites.

Rest easy, Tom. May your lines always be tight and your skies forever clear.
