Obituary

Christopher Aloysius Sapp, known to most as Chris, passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2025, in a motorcycle accident near Williston, Florida. He was 66 years old.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, on December 18, 1958, Chris proudly served his country as an Aviation Electronics Technician in the United States Navy. After his service, he found both career and community at Monterey Boats in Williston, where he worked faithfully since 1996.

Chris was a man of many talents and deep commitments—both to his family and to his community. He was a dedicated member of the Patriot Guard Riders, the Commander of American Legion Post #236, Director of the American Legion Riders, and past Worshipful Master of Archer Masonic Lodge No. 197. Over the years, he was also active in the Shriners, Eastern Star and many other organizations. One of his greatest joys was volunteering for the Gary Sinise Foundation's Snowball Express, supporting the children of fallen military heroes—a cause close to his heart.

Outside of his service and work, Chris could often be found cruising on his motorcycle, woodworking in his garage, casting a line on the water, cheering from the stands at his grandson Colt's baseball games, or singing along at classic rock concerts. And if you knew him, you knew—he could really talk.

Chris is survived by his sons, Chris (Mandy) and Derrick (Anabel); his beloved grandson, Colt; his sister, Lonnie (Leonard); brothers Joe (Tina), Bud (Debbie), and Paul; and many friends and extended family who will miss his stories, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marty and Dorothy, and his brother, Gerry.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Rafter Cross Cowboy Church in Williston. Friends are welcome to join the family for a viewing (tentative) from 8:00 - 10:00 am. Officiating the service will be Pastor Billy Keith. A funeral procession will be escorted from the church at 11:00 am to the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell where a committal service will take place at 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Chris's honor to the Patriot Guard Riders Snowball Express: https://patriotguard.org/snowball-donation/

His ride may be over, but his stories, his service, and his heart live on.

Arrangements are entrusted to Weems & Sons Funeral Homes, 512 East Noble Avenue Williston, Florida 32696.

My deepest sympathy I send to all of the family! I have 26yrs of memories working along side Chris at Montery Boats. We were like Brother and Sister.... a perfect love/hate relationship. Through the years we worked together in many different capacities and shared some of the same qualities when it came to pride in our accomplishments. Chris never stepped down to a challenge! He loved to share his knowledge and experiences with anyone who had time to listen. The heart of compassion to any in need was second to none. Having worked under his leadership I must say it was his way which was the Best way....as hard as it was to accept at times. Chris never backed down to a confrontation and would debate it to no end. The knowledge he carried was second to none and he enjoyed sharing it......there were days he was the biggest pain in my butt. But, my memories are fond, and my love runs deep. Chris was the first to declare it was time to step into action when there was a need and every task he took on he owned it till completion and finished it with pride and conviction. You will be missed my brother you may be gone but you will never be forgotten. Much Love My Dear Rest in Peace!!
