Obituary
Bessie A. Cherolis, resident of Williston, Florida passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in Miami, Florida. She was 100 years old. Bessie was born on July 16, 1924 in Alabama City, Alabama to her parents George and Domina Likos.
Bessie was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. When Bessie moved to Williston she attended St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. She was a woman of many talents and enjoyed painting, cooking, and fashion. Bessie was a friend to all and a devoted church member, she thrived off of traditions and loved to share them with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents George Likos and Domina Kalfas; husbands Pzoie Chirolis and Joe Cherolis, and daughter Mary Ella Chirolis Joyce. She is also preceded by her siblings Steve Likos, Gus Likos, Jimmy Likos and Angie Likos.
Bessie is survived by her daughters Anna “Donna” Knapp (Charles), Georgia “Gigi” Chirolis, and Jennifer Chirolis (Alfredo Mulder); sister Mary Ella-Billiris; grandchildren Alexander Joyce Jung, Anthony Knapp, Zoie Knapp, Dominick Mulder and Monica Mulder. As well as twelve great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Whether it was from her time in Miami or her home in Williston, Bessie brought people together, to catch up on their lives and to offer her love as it was needed. With an incredibly sharp mind she played, “Words with Friends” with people across the globe creating relationships and spreading her personal blessings. She never missed the opportunity to play the New York Times daily games with her daughters.
Bessie never met a stranger and treated everyone as if they were a part of her family. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A service will be held at the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 10:00 am with Father Alan Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Plummer Cemetery in Williston, Florida. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin or to the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Williston, Florida.
