Obituary
In Loving Memory of David O. Weatherford
April 28, 1968 – October 28, 2026
David O. Weatherford, 58, of Chiefland, Florida, passed away on October 28, 2026.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who will be remembered for his big heart, quick wit, and ability to bring laughter wherever he went. He was truly the life of the party, always joking, cutting up, and picking on the people he loved most. Whether he was putting on a goofy hat or dressing in ridiculous clothes just to get a laugh, David had a way of turning an ordinary moment into a memory. He never needed a special occasion to make people laugh, and his playful spirit brought joy to family gatherings and everyday life. His humor, loving heart, and one-of-a-kind personality will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
David dedicated 38 years of his life to working for Levy County, where he retired as a foreman. Through his years of hard work and dedication, he built a legacy of commitment and service.
Outside of work, David enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and cheering on his beloved Florida Gators. He had a true passion for hunting and loved every opportunity to be in the woods. Nothing brought him more joy than sharing the excitement of hunting and the beauty of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. Just as much as he enjoyed being in the woods, David loved being in the stands, proudly cheering on his children and grandchildren as they represented the Chiefland Indians. Whether on the field, the court, or wherever they competed, he was one of their biggest fans and rarely missed an opportunity to watch them play and correct the umpires and refs. His love for his family and his faith in God were equally important parts of his life. The moments he shared with his children and grandchildren, along with the laughter, stories, and memories he created in the woods, in the stands, and everywhere in between, will remain treasured for years to come.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Lynch Baylor.
David is survived by his wife, Jessica Lynn Rife; his father, John Eugene Weatherford and his wife, Rebecca; and his children, David Keagon Weatherford and his wife, Kaylee; Mackenzie Saylor-Foister and her husband, James; Sabrina Lynn Martin; Landon James Weatherford and his wife, Paisley; Tanner Brice Weatherford and Jeremiah Polk.
He was a proud grandfather to Aubrey Grace Weatherford, Jettsen James Weatherford, Kai Thomas Weatherford, Overstreet James Weatherford, Phoenix Foister, Atlas Foister, Sage Foister, and Meadow Foister.
David is also survived by his siblings, Brenda Weatherford Pitts and her husband, Frank; Wayne Eugene Weatherford and his wife, Lena; and Kelli Weatherford Webster.
David’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends that can never truly be filled. While those who loved him mourn his loss, they will forever carry his memory through the stories they tell, the jokes they remember, and the laughter he brought into their lives. His legacy is one of hard work, love for family, faith, and a sense of humor that made him unforgettable. The goofy hats, ridiculous outfits, playful teasing, and countless moments of laughter will remain part of the memories his loved ones hold dear.
Though he is no longer with us, David’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Chiefland, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at the Chiefland Cemetery immediately following the service.
David O Weatherford will forever be loved, remembered, and missed. The family requests that you wear blue instead of black to celebrate his life.
Arrangements are under the care of Weems & Sons Funeral Home of Chiefland.
