Obituary

Carolyn Rebecca Pearce passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her grandchildren, on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the age of 84.


Born on April 15, 1940, in Cedar Key, Florida, Carolyn was the daughter of Nelson and Nadine O'Steen. She spent her early years in Cedar Key before eventually settling in Newberry. Carolyn retired from the former General Electric battery plant in Alachua, Florida, where she dedicated many years of service.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Douglas Wayne Allen; her daughter, Kimberly Carol Allen; and several siblings.


Carolyn is remembered with love by her granddaughters Mandy Allen; Jennifer Langford; Katelyn Allen; Kelley Allen; and Kandyce Carter; great-grandchildren Jaylnn, Zoey, Reanne, Kaylynn, and Chase; and great-great-grandchildren Myleigh, Gracie, and Kayden. She is also survived by her sisters Clara Nell Castell and Cindy Alford.


Carolyn held a deep devotion to her family and found joy in every moment spent with them. Her warmth and presence brought smiles to those around her. Family was the center of her world – whether it be close or extended family members – she cherished the time spent with family and friends.


May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.


A graveside service will be held at the Cedar Key Cemetery on Tuesday, April 15, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Officiating the service will be Pastor Andy Cook.


Arrangements are entrusted to Weems & Sons Funeral Homes, 715 West Park Avenue Chiefland, Florida 32626.
