Steven Bloom

Steven Kenneth Bloom passed away on March 14, 2025, at the Terrace Rehab and Care Center in Gainesville where he was a resident since he became ill.

Steven was born on July 11th, 1964, to William and Margaret Bloom in Bucks County Pennsylvania. At the approximate age of 6 years old, he, his two brothers and mother moved to Florida to live with family. Steven is preceded in death by his father, William Bloom, and brother Billy Bloom. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Polk; brother Rick Bloom (Lori); spouse, Cindy Bloom; daughters Jessica Bloom (Steven Murphy) and Elizabeth Bloom (Shane Faircloth); niece Mikayla Jerkins; grandson Joseph Murphy; and nieces Brittani Bloom, Amanda Nunes and Ashton Dowling (and their children). 

Steve was a family man. He loved his family more than anything. He was also a musician, teaching himself to play drums and guitar, a little harmonica and some keyboard. His first band, the Willie Stone Band, played for local people for a few years. He was then in different bands from time to time, playing and singing and entertaining family and friends for many years. They played and sang different genres of music ranging from old time Rock (Lynard Skynyrd, Bob Seager) to some country (Tim McGraw, Kenny Rogers, George Strait) and Gospel music. He even sang in the choir for several years at church. There was not a family gathering where a guitar was not handed to him to round out the time together.

Steve also loved fishing. He would have fished every day if his wife would have allowed it 😊.  They did enjoy fishing together many times. One tradition they created was night fishing every Thanksgiving night. He also had many different fishing buddies throughout the years including his long-time buddy (brother by another mother) Bob Bremer. In fact, the day after they were married, Cindy went to work, and he and Bob went fishing! Steve also enjoyed playing the Wii Golf with his old buddy Mike McGillicuddy.

For work, Steve was a hardware man. He worked for Ross Ace Hardware, no longer around, for about 13 years, until the store closed in 2003. In fact, this is where he hired, and a year later, married his wife, Cindy. They just celebrated 25 years together in October 2024. When Ross Ace closed, Steve worked at different locations, including Lanes Yardware in Williston and Tractor Supply in Ocala. He finally ended up at Bronson Ace Hardware, where he worked until he became disabled, about 6 years ago.

Steve loved the Lord. One of his favorite sayings, if something was misplaced – “Ask the Lord to lead you to it, and He will”. And every time someone left, he would say “put you in God's hands”. Steve was a true, firm believer that God would provide and never leave our sides. As much as we know he is now walking and singing in the Heavenly choir and fishing with his brother, Steve will be truly missed by many!

A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the First Methodist Church in Williston. Pastor David Richter will officiate. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Knauff Funeral Home Williston.
