As we celebrate the life of Terry Lee Porter, we find ourselves reflecting on a remarkable individual whose impact was felt deeply by everyone who knew him. Born on October 15, 1950, in Opa Locka, FL, and passed away on March 1, 2025
Raised in Sunrise, FL Terry's journey through life was one filled with passion, creativity, and a genuine love for those around him.
Terry was a man of many talents and interests, but his heart belonged to the horses he cared for as a professional farrier. For over 40 years, he dedicated himself to the art of shoeing horses of all breeds, often relying on his innovative home remedies to ensure their well-being. His craftsmanship extended beyond the barn; he was skilled in leatherwork, creating beautiful items such as purses, sandals, and belts. Additionally, he carried on the family tradition of house painting and ventured into breeding Rottweilers, showcasing his versatility and commitment to all his pursuits.
Terrys warmth and generosity of spirit made him a friend to many. He had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, treating every stranger as a potential friend. His protective and loyal nature endeared him to those he loved, and his gift of gab was a cherished family trait that made every conversation memorable.
Preceeded in death was Terry's mother, Clora Mae Heermance, stepfather Andrew Heermance, stepfather, who helped raise him, Carl G. Kruse, and Father, John Earl Porter.
Terry's family was a blend of love and support, with siblings and step-siblings who formed a close-knit unit reminiscent of a modern-day Brady Bunch. Siblings included Lawrence Meuse Sr, Geneva Porter Goehl, Teresa Porter Fikaris, Sally Kruse Guando, Ronald Kruse, Janie Kruse Gollis, and David Kruse (RIP).
He was a devoted son, loving father to Heather Porter, and took immense pride in the large group of nieces and nephews who brought joy to his life: Natalie, Beverly, Lawrence Jr., Bobby, Shari, Julie, Kristal, Amy, Alex, Anthony, and Kayla
While we mourn the loss of Terry, we also celebrate the legacy he leaves behinda legacy of compassion, creativity, and friendship. His long-time friends, such as Linda Consiglio, Karen Shannon, Terri Sobrane, Ron Rubin, and Mike Morgan, can attest to the profound impact he had on their lives.
In remembering Terry, let us honor his spirit by cherishing the connections we have with one another, just as he did throughout his life. May we find comfort in our shared memories and the love he imparted to us all.
There will be a celebration of life service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Knauff Funeral Home, located at 512 E Noble Ave Williston, FL 32696 (352) 528-3481
The program will include an opportunity for friends to share their favorite memories of Terry.
Family and friends are invited to join us immediately following the service for a meal directly afterward located at: Landmark Apostolic Church, 34 E Noble Ave, Williston, FL 32696.
