Obituary
First Sergeant, Otto Gustave Lede, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and dedicated veteran of the United States Army, passed away on January 28, 2025 at the age of 83. He gave 22 years of honorable service with 2 tours in Vietnam and was recognized for his service with : Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal (6) , National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Drill Instructor, Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation w /4OLC , Combat Infantrymens Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palm Unit Citation, Vietnam Civil Action Unit Citation, Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation, and German Army Marksmanship Award in Bronze. After retirement from the Army, he served his local community at Metro-Dade County Corrections for 10 years with subsequent retirement. He then continued to serve his local community with security and private investigation. He was still empowered to serve his country further and help his fellow veterans at the Disabled American Veterans to obtain their earned benefits. He did this for many years before finally retiring for the last time about 4 years ago. His sons Otto and Robert also followed in his footsteps and also served in the military until they both medically retired. Otto was born in Puerto Rico while his father was stationed there on September 2, 1941 and is survived by his wife, Karen, and their children of a blended family Otto Mastrapa and spouse Karina, granddaughter Alani and grandson Aiden , Robert Lede (Deceased) and his granddaughter Anella Lede, Melissa Sheridan and spouse Jason and granddaughter Shailyn and grandson Calum. He is also survived by the mother of his boys, Xiomara Mastrapa. The family would like to express their gratitude for his service to our country. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 2, 2025 with a visitation held one hour prior at Knauff Funeral Home in Williston. Father Harold Richie will officiate. A committal service will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 3, 2025. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Knauff Funeral Home Williston.
