Joseph Dana Whitney "Dont you know Joe" Joseph Dana Whitney was born on April 10th, 1969, and passed away peacefully on January 12th, 2025 after his long and painful battle with cancer. Joe was born in Clearwater, Florida to Donnie and Linda Whitney. Growing up on the beach gave Joe a love for the water and boats, which he kept till the end. After his service in the Navy, followed by 22 years of employment with Walmart, Joe desired a slower pace of life, which brought him to Dixie County, but still on the water. Joe is survived by his wife of 20 years, Heidi Emmerich-Whitney, his sister who still resides in Clearwater, Debra Cole, and his best friends who stayed by Joe to the end, David and Patricia Gordon. A celebration to remember the inspiring life of "Dont you know Joe" will be held at the Suwannee River Bend RV Park, located at 28872 SE Highway 19, Old Town Florida 32680 on January 25th, 2025 at 12 noon. Joe never lost his love for his country and the value he placed in serving her. In his honor, Joes Celebration of Life, allowing his family, extended family and friends to show their gratitude for his friendship, love of life and service to our country will be themed for his time serving in the Navy. I can't believe Joe has gone 😞🙏 Luckily we had some time to reconnect over the past few months 💞 Everyone loved Joe, don't ya know! He has always had a big heart. I will always remember the good times and they were plenty! My brother, a piece of my heart 💔

Heidi, I am so sorry to hear about Joe he was a one of a kind and he loved you dearly. I will always remember the good times at work and all the fun times on the boat especially when we hung out at Red Neck Island. We had a lot of laughs together.I wish I could make the Celebration of life but having trouble with my eyes so I don't drive far until I get cataracts done. My heart will be there as I know the pain you are going through. Just remember he is no longer in pain. So Joe don't you know R.I.P. my friend you will always be remembered 💖

When I first came down to Florida I went bowling and thats where I met Joe and his sister Debbie . We became instant friend as my birthday is April 11So we were like brothersI would make trips down to Clearwater to drive my Grandmas car home .I still have great memories of going to the beach, Anna Marie Island . And camping one trip down there with Joe and his sister and friends .Joe will be missed by many

Heidi, My condolences to you and your family at this difficult time. Joe had a way of making people smile even when they were down and he made the workday go by with fun and laughter, but we still got things done. I can still hear him scream whenever Tamara came up behind him and yelled BOO. May your memories forever keep Joe close.
