Lora Winningham

Lora was called by her middle name, 'Darlene' all her life. She was born in 1938 in San Antonio, Texas to Willie and Annie Watkins Gerloff. Her father Willie, was in the Navy, stationed out of Corpus Christi, Texas. They owned a Cafe named Annie's Cafe close to the Port/Base. Darlene was raised in Corpus Christi. After school, in her teen years, she worked at the Cafe until she met and married a young sailor from Florida named Willie Winningham. After they married, she moved to Levy County and they raised five children together. Willie passed away in 2006. She leaves one daughter Connie Giddens, four sons Jimmy - Colorado, Josh- Florida, Lewis & Norman-Oklahoma. Seven grandchildren twelve great grand children plus many step grand children. Darlene was a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 25 years at Oak View, Williston, FL, and the VA Nursing Home in Gainesville, FL. . She enjoyed going to the movies on her days off. She loved music, crochet, and taking her morning walks. She was a beautiful lady, kind to all she met. Thank you to Knauff Funeral Home for your kindness and gracious service during this time.
