Daniel Hopping, Jr.

Daniel Stiles Hopping, Jr. of Williston died Dec. 5th, 2024 at Shands Hospital after a long illness. He was 74 years old. Dannie was born in Williston on June 2nd, 1950 to parents Daniel Stiles Hopping, Sr. and Yvonne Hopping. He was a lifelong resident of Williston where he was a member of The Williston Church of God. Dannie enjoyed fishing and taking trips to the mountains. Hed take just about any back road he could find just to see where it would lead. He would drive to Georgia just to go eat at a restaurant someone told him about to turn around and drive back home. He never met a stranger. He was kind to everyone. He loved talking about Jesus and this included the staff at Shands. Dannie had four jobs throughout his life which included Bartons gas station in high school, Ross Hardware for 19 years, Dixie Lily for 13 years and his last job was with the City of Williston when he retired in 2009. He loved every job he ever had. He is preceded in death by his parents; Yvonne Bowden and Stiles Hopping. His wife Angelene Hopping, two sisters Velma Butler and Rebecca Heaster, and a grandson Zachary Daniel Osburn. Survivors include his loving wife Darlene Kidd Hopping of Williston, daughter Mechelle Hopping (Jon), Gail Williams (Mike), and a son James Daniel Hopping (Tabitha). Three brothers Wray Hoping (Gail), Wayne Hopping (Darlene) and Larry Bowden (Susan). He had four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be forever missed. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the Williston Church of God. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Brothers Wes Smith, Keith Langford and Chris Tucker will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Orange Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Knauff Funeral Home Williston.
