Obituary
Michael Allison Silvernell, formerly of Queensbury, NY, passed away peacefully at his home in Williston, FL, on November 3, 2024. Michael was 77 years old and surrounded by his family and friends in the days leading up to his passing. Michael was born on July 1, 1947 in Glens Falls Hospital, NY, to Jessie (Blanch Williams) and Allison (Davis) Silvernell. Michael graduated from Queensbury High School in 1965. He then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968. He proudly served his country and was a decorated Vietnam war veteran. Much of his service was in Vietnam as an electronics technician (crypto and radio communication) and an Advisor to Vietnamese counterparts. He completed his honorable military service in 1974 as a Petty Officer 2nd Class. Michael attended the University of Maine at Machias for environmental studies. He worked in the municipal community televising and refurbishing underground pipelines. He formed his own company, C-Thru Pipe Company eventually. Michael spent many years traveling for work and living in various locations throughout the United States. Some of his many interests, including his Harley trike motorcycles, scuba diving, golf, hunting and pet rescues. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Karen (Lee Koffler) Silvernell. As Mike faced many health challenges and Agent Orange exposure issues, Karen spent years at his side caring for him. He is also survived by his sons, Douglas Michael (Tammy) Silvernell and Brian Scott (Jesseca-Sam) Silvernell. Mike adored his grandchildren, Carter, Delaney, Darby and Nolan. Although Mike was an only child, he found a brother in Joey Schweickert. Joey and his partner, Terry Hayward were amazing friends and dedicated caregivers for many years. Mike loved rescuing cats and dogs, having many over the years. Michael will be buried with military honors at Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, Florida on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm. Michael was very loved by his family, and we will miss him dearly. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Knauff Funeral Home Williston.

Wishing Condolences to Mikes family. We have many fond memories of Bikeweek Mike camped out in our front yard, enjoying campfires, old friends, neighbors, pilots, nurses, Hillbillies, etc. Always the life of the party with that big laugh and fondness of animals and great stories of his family, friends and the Northeast Lobsters!!! We will miss Mike. RIP.
