Herman Frank Wells, born on March 7, 1942 passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. He was 82 years old. Herman was born in Oconee, Georgia to parents George and Emma Wells. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Wells; daughter Barbara Stephens; son Herman Wells, Jr. and grandson Jeremy Stephens. He is survived by his four brothers Jimmy Wells, Wilbur Wells (Marie), Willis Wells (Jackie), and John Wells (Becky). He is also survived by one sister Winifred Ewing (Mike), granddaughter Stephanie Stephens, and great granddaughter Nadia Stephens. Herman was a lifelong resident of Cedar Key, Florida where he was a commercial fisherman. Herman was a builder at heart, he had a sawmill where he cut logs and used them to build chairs, gliders, tables, all types of furniture and various things. He always made a design or pattern into anything he built to give it his own unique touch. Herman loved music, he enjoyed playing guitar and singing. Herman never met a stranger and would talk to anyone that he crossed paths with. He was featured in Florida Magazine in 2020 for his amazing work. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Cedar Key Cemetery with a viewing held at 9:30 am. Reverend Robin Smith Jocelyn will officiate the service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Knauff Funeral Home Chiefland. Rest in peace my friend.....The heart and soul of Cedar Key who taught me a lot in the time I spent in Cedar Key. Loved our visits at the shop, his big heart, his craftmanship and all the fun jokes and tales from yesteryear.....We've lost a good one, until we meet again my friend......You touched our families hearts by knowing you and will cherish continuing to use the chairs you built.....<br>Steve

Mr.Herman was one of those unforgettable characters who just happens to come into your life,often by circumstance but never leaves you. He was a big part of our family for over twenty five years and spent many a Christmas,Thanksgiving and Easter Sundays at our home in Rosewood.We loved him dearly and will miss him immensely ! Was certainly one of a kind that would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed itRest in Peace my dear friend!!!
