Obituary
Brenda Lou Slaughter, a resident of Chiefland, Florida passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024. She was 75 years old. Brenda was born on February 19, 1949 in Marietta, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Louie and Corine Allen. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ where she enjoyed worshipping and spending time with her church family. Fishing and raising animals, especially horses, were just a few of Brendas passions but some of her happiest moments were spending time with her family. Brenda is preceded in death by her son Justin Fortner. She is survived by her husband of over 20 years Walter "Bill" Slaughter, Sr., son Grady Fortner, Brothers Ronnie and Ricky Allen, grandchildren Will Fortner, Gracie Fortner, Trip Fortner, Abigail, Lillian and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Knauff Funeral Home in Chiefland with a visitation one hour prior. Brother Bill Slaughter will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Jonesville Cemetery in Newberry, Florida. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Knauff Funeral Home Chiefland.
