Darlene Johnson

Darlene Gordon Johnson, 93, of Chiefland, Florida, died on April 13, 2024. Darlene was born in Atlantic, Iowa on February 18, 1931. She will be remembered for her wit, artistic talent, and passion for teaching. Darlene had a lively career, working as a beautician in her early years, followed by many years as an over-the-road truck driver with her husband Jerrold. In her fifties, Darlene, never to be deterred by a challenge, earned a degree in education and began teaching in Polk County, FL. Later, she taught at a Florida correctional institution. "Mrs. J," as she was known by her students and colleagues, spent the last 15 years of her career teaching at schools in Levy County. She remained actively teaching until the age of 86. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn Harold Gordon and Marie Emma Grace Paulson, her husband, Jerrold Johnson, her son, Scott Johnson, and her brother, Glenn Gordon. She is survived by her nephews Terry Gordon, (Karen,) and Todd Gordon, and her nieces Mindy Gordon, (Tracey,) and Shari Hansen.
