Madeline Rita Lingos, 83, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Gainesville, Florida. She was born on September 3, 1942, in New York, New York, to her parents,
Edward Stifel and Edith Broad.
Madeline was preceded in death by her beloved son, Andreas Lingos, and siblings, John, Richard (Butch), Mary Ann, and Margaret. She is survived by her children, Mary
Ann Swetz, Joseph Swetz, and Diamandia Lingos; her grandchildren, David Frank Nourse IV (Rachel), Helen Nourse, Elizabeth Rivard, Ari Padawer, Joseph Swetz, and
Jamie Swetz; and her great-grandchildren, David Frank Nourse V, Iola Nourse, and Theodore Nourse. She also leaves behind her niece, Ann Marie McAdams.
Madeline dedicated many years of her professional life to working as secretary to the director at Bronx Children's Hospital and later served as a secretary at Madison Country Schools in Connecticut. She was an avid reader who found great joy in books. Madeline had a love for animals including her dogs, Foxy, Keiko, Scrapper, and Blackie. She loved to travel. Her favorite place to visit was Hawaii with her sister, Margaret. Madeline loved going on cruises with her daughter, Mary Ann, and her grandchildren, particularly visiting Cozumel and dancing with the locals.
