Otis Buckner

Otis Chance Buckner, age 25, of Chiefland, FL passed away on February 26, 2024. He was a devoted father, a cherished son and grandson, a beloved brother, and a loyal friend. Otis was born on September 10, 1998, and grew up in Levy County and Gilchrist County. He graduated from Bell High School in 2017, where he was a member of FFA. He grew into a remarkable man, guided by his uncanny love for his family and his passion for the outdoors. One of Otis's greatest joys was spending time in nature, indulging in his love for fishing and hunting. Whether it was casting a line into a pristine river or navigating through the woods in search of game, he found solace and tranquility in the embrace of the natural world. His enthusiasm for these pursuits was infectious, and he shared countless unforgettable moments with his family and friends. Above everything else, Otis was a devoted family man whose love for Rose and his daughter knew no bounds. He poured his heart and soul into his family. Rose and Ira were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent in their company. In addition, Otis cherished the companionship of his loyal canine companion, Bailey. His dog was more than just a pet; she was a faithful family member who accompanied him everywhere and provided comfort in times of need. The bond they shared was unbreakable, a testament to the depth of his love and compassion. Otis will be remembered for his kindness and his unwavering devotion to his family. He made sure to always tell his family and friends he loved them. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever live on in the countless lives he touched. He is survived by his daughter, Iralen "Ira" Buckner; his mother, Leslie (David Thrasher) Gunn; his brother, Cordell Gunn; his sister Jaycee Gunn; his granny and papa, Skip and Sissy Fowler; his significant other, Rose Byrne and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts forever. His untimely departure has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who knew him. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the life he lived and the legacy of love and kindness he leaves behind. A celebration of life to honor Otis Chance Buckner will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 10.00am at Otter Creek Baptist Church, 171 SW 3rd St., Otter Creek, FL 32683. Arrangements are under the care of Knauff Funeral Home of Chiefland.
