Obituary
Michael Alan Boyer, resident of Chiefland, Florida passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023. He was 71 years old. Mike was born on November 8, 1952 in Mexico, Missouri to parents Neil and Dorothy. Mike retired from Whites as an auto mechanic. He loved to spend time with family and was a member of the River Rats & Suwannee River Cruisers. Michael and his father Neil loved to fish and especially enjoyed decorating his boat. They are the reason for the start of the Annual Festival of Lights Boat Parade that has been held in Fanning Springs since 1990. He is preceded in death by his father Neil Boyer of Chiefland, mother Dorothy Cain (Rhea) of Chiefland, and brother Michael David of Fanning Springs. Michael is survived by his daughters Stacey (Jimmy) Taylor of Bell, Nevina Langston of Chiefland, and his significant other Louise Peters of Chiefland; siblings Sandy Hodge of Trenton, Eric (Dawn) Boyer of Gainesville, Sheila Boyer of Cross City, Cindy Dyals of Old Town, Beverly England of Mobile, Alabama, and John Duncan of Chiefland. Michael also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Hart Springs. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you may bring a covered dish as there will be a Potluck Dinner following the service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Knauff Funeral Home in Chiefland.

Mike was a true friend and gentleman with a soft heart. I'll never forget the fun of being introduced to the Boat Parade and Ducky Racing, and his patience at my amateur boat fishing attempts, not to mention the good times at The Redneck Yacht Club. I will miss his lovely, cheery welcome every time Jim and I arrived in Chiefland. I feel privileged to have had the pleasure of knowing Mike, and to be left with such memories to soothe the grief of his passing. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

I loved Mike so much. I've known him for over 40 years he was a great friend. He always had a smile and a smart alleck remark to make me laugh. He will be greatly missed.

Mike and I have had many adventures. We've been Best friends for 50 years. We've had loads of good times. He was the closest thing to a brother I had . I will miss him dearly but I will never forget him.. Rest in peace my friend , keep the fish biting and the boats running till I get there..You will always be remembered.
