Obituary

James Floyd Tillman Sr., resident of Williston, Florida went home to be with the Lord On Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the age of 91. Rev. Tillman was born on January 14, 1932 in Plant City, Florida to parents Richard and Katherine Tillman. He was a Korean War veteran that served over 20 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. After retiring he became a successful Residential Contractor and Realtor for many years. As a Devout Christian, he was called to serve in the missionary field, helping to build churches and later became a Southern Baptist Minister for more than 30 years. James was a widower after 69 years of a loving marriage to Sharon L. Berry Tillman. They were a perfect matched team. Jim, Buddy, or Floyd loved the Lord Jesus, family, country, and others. You might say he lived his life loving, serving, and helping others, above himself. He lived a selfless life caring for others and telling everyone he met, that Jesus loves and forgives them. He alone is the truth the light and the way of life. He is survived by his children, James F. Tillman Jr. (Cynthia), Katherine Hudson and Teresa Cummings (Richard). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Knauff Funeral Home in Williston, Florida at 4PM. The family will receive friends for a visitation one hour prior. The committal service will be held the following day, on Monday, January 8, 2024 with Military Honors at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 1PM.

Selfishly I wish I had more time to spend with him. He was so knowledgeable in so many things. Always had a smile on his face that welcomed you in no matter how long it had been. He gave me encouragement every time we spoke and you knew he really meant it. My love and condolences to the whole family.

Uncle Jim was a wonderful man with a huge heart for God. We always loved when Aunt Sharon and Uncle Jim visited, they had the sweetest love of each other. I loved hearing stories of him and Grandpa in their military days. He will be greatly missed.
